CAMP PHOENIX, Afghanistan -- The Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435 hosted the top Judge Advocate Generals from the Army and Navy Nov. 5-6, 2012. U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Dana Chipman and U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Nanette DeRenzi traveled to Afghanistan to visit their services' deployed legal offices. Accompanying the TJAGs were their respective senior-enlisted advisors, Command Sgt. Maj. Troy Tyler and Master Chief Legalman Paul St. Sauver. The official party arrived at Camp Phoenix on the morning of Nov. 5 where they were greeted by senior CJIATF 435 Staff Judge Advocate leadership, along with 30 Army, Navy and Air Force attorneys, paralegals, and legal administrators from the six legal offices on Camp Phoenix. The visit began with a brief over-view of the various legal offices on Camp Phoenix, followed by briefings by Brig. Gen. Ural Glanville, commander of NATO Rule of Law Field Support Mission/Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan, and U.S. Army Col. Brian Brady, CJIATF 435 SJA, on detention operations. Legal personnel attended lunch with the official party and each TJAG provided "State of the Corps" briefings. After lunch, Chipman recognized and coined U.S. Army Maj. Michael Gould and U.S. Army Capt. Benjamin Tramposh as "Heroes of the Day" for their exemplary work ethic and duty performance. Additionally, several CJIATF 435 personnel lo-cated at out-stations, both while the TJAGS were at Camp Phoenix and during the trip to Kandahar, were able to video teleconference in on the briefings and speak with the TJAGs. The official party headed to Camp Sabalu-Harrison Nov. 6 and met the TF Titan legal team headed by Lt. Col. William Koon before heading over to greet the legal personnel at the Joint Legal Center. While at the JLC, Chipman and DeRenzi coined two attorneys and two paralegals from each service, as well as one Army legal administrator: Lt. Natasha Bode, Capt. Jacqueline Lee, Chief Warrant Officer Luis Luna, Petty Officer 1st Class Michelle Breitenstein, and Specialist Ruben Ramirez.
