RLSO Southeast Holds Change of Command

Region Legal Service Office Southeast (RLSO SE) held a change of command ceremony at the Beacon aboard Naval Station Mayport, Fla., May 14, 2021.

Rear Adm. Darse E. “Del” Crandall, Jr., deputy judge advocate general and commander of Naval Legal Service Command, presided over the ceremony in which Cmdr. Brian Korn relieved Capt. Joseph Hoelz as commanding officer of RLSO SE.

During the ceremony, Hoelz thanked his Sailors for a rewarding tour and acknowledged the support his family has provided throughout the years.

Korn will assume duties as commanding officer of RLSO SE.  He was previously executive officer of RLSO SE. He was previously Senior Trial Counsel of Region Legal Service Office Hawaii, from July of 2016 until July of 2019.  He has also served as the Legal Advisor to the Commandant of Midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy, and Officer in Charge at the Region Legal Service Office Southeast Pensacola.

Korn, a Boston, Massachusetts native, graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and Boston College Law School, with a Juris Doctor degree.  He commissioned in 2004 through the Student Program.

RLSO SE supports the operational readiness of Department of the Navy assets in the Southeastern United States by providing responsive, timely and accurate legal guidance, support services and training in the areas of military justice, legal assistance and administrative law.
